Ski & Mountain Teaching Program – Autumn 2009

Each session will have a theme running through it. This is designed to give the student maximum benefits within the given time. However, each student will be given individual feedback that may involve some other aspects of their skiing. Other aspects of the skiers performance may also be discussed at the video debrief as appropriate.

Understand the fundamental elements of skiing and how we turn our skis.
Learn to recognize your own strengths and weaknesses and what you can do to become a more powerful, accurate skier.
Start blending the elements to create turns to suit the conditions.
Performance Clinic – for confident red run skiers and above
Adapting the Performance
A good skier is an adaptable skier. Use the steering elements to improve your versatility and confidence to deal with any situation. Surprise yourself with how many ways there are tackle each section of the hill. Find out what works for you and what you enjoy, have fun with your skiing and take on the whole mountain with confidence.

Day one: Posture and balance
Learn to stand on your skis correctly to promote good balance, accurate movements and reduce impact and fatigue.

Day one: Advanced Posture and Balance
Maximize the effectiveness and accuracy of your skiing by improving posture and balance.
Learn to connect with your feet and feel the terrain underneath you.

SPECIALIST CLINICS Subject to availability and interest €45 per person or €75 for a one day performance course and a specialist clinic
BUMPS CLINIC:
Learn to tackle the moguls with confidence and style. Requiring one of the most specialist techniques in skiing, moguls need accurate and fast movements. Intimidating to many people, take our bumps clinic to learn how it should be done. With the right technique they become exciting and enjoyable and transform the final run of the day from busy, bumpy nightmare to one of the best runs of the day!
FREESTYLE CLINIC:
Testing some twin tips? Then why not join our freestyle clinic to see what modern freestyle skis are all about. Learn to ride switch and hit the park to ride rails and hit kickers. Learn to look at the terrain differently and use it to have fun, flat green runs need never be dull again! Learning some simple freestyle skills and flat land tricks will really add to your enjoyment of a normal day on the hill as well as do wonders for your general technique, balance and confidence.
SPEED CLINIC:
Skiers should be confident skiing at reasonable speed on red runs.
Boost your confidence and control at speed with the speed clinic. Get some carvers on and learn to ski quicker, better and safer with the right techniques. Start thinking about how to get more out of your skis through specialized techniques such as tilt, inclination and angulation. Racers use these techniques to get down the hill in double time, start learning what it can do for you.
